Every story has a murder

Spooky Stories by Molly Laich

saturday

Today we did three main things:

  1. Woke up with the sun, made do on a facebook rsvp for once and drove to coast guard cove for a cold plunge in lake superior. guys, it was great. more social events should center around wading into the sea in frigid temperatures. nobody’s social anxious or worried about their figure in a bathing suit on account of the ungodly distraction levyed by the icy cold water and how it makes you feel. I think it’s a pretty cool club, reminds me just a little of AA (“keep coming back!” etc. “it works if you work it!”), 80% regulars, the other 20 a revolving door. But shorter. To the point.

2. Did my laundry at “Loads of Fun Laundromat” and okay, this one does get my goat a little. The place is half a mile from the brentwood so an obvious first choice. Already I’m a little dubious about the name. I get the pun: a load of laundry/load of fun, but laundry, I mean, there’s just no way to spin it (heyo!) it’s not fun. But then I thought, who knows, maybe they’ve got a few arcade games along one wall. But no! They barely had anywhere to sit, a single wash cycle cost $6.25 and the credit card machine wasn’t working. I had to load 25 quarters into a machine, one by one. I may be inordinately mad that the laundromat wasn’t fun.

3. I had a date at a coffee shop but it’s fucking awkward to talk about, is it not? I’m remembering now the joys and challenges of blogging. A life is delicate! You can’t just show all sides to all people. I think I want to be able to do that. I want to be this authentic, transparent person who moves through all the facets of their life with the same face, but honestly, have you ever tried that? I’m not sure if it’s possible. And if it’s possible, is it virtuous? A diversion. The point is this: I’m saying yes to things(!) and meeting new people.
